Villa Maria
Founded in 1961, there are vineyards in Marlborough, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. The wines are 'cork free' using screwcap closures. This is a huge company producing a vast array of wines yet the quality of the wine is exceptional. There are two large wineries, Auckland and Marlborough and the grapes are harvested in the cool mornings.
Tasting
Light straw colour with a mineral nose of cut grass, gooseberries, grapefruit and peaches. On the palate the wine is fresh and zippy with lovely ripe fruit over a mineral character. There is really good concentration of fruit and a good crisp finish.
